The ink is spread onto the numbers indicating the specific date of the day and it is self-updated daily. So as days goes by, the ink will eventually fill up all the numbers. Besides, there are different colors for every month which goes according to the temperature of the month. For example, it uses shades of red to indicate summer. Pretty cool huh.
